In April 1973 four friends, who shared passion for boating, fiberglass manufacturing expertise and an unfulfilled dream, strongly believed that their dream could come true and founded the “CONERO” company. The four company founders chose an agricultural shed in the Recanatese countryside as their working site and equipped it for the processing of fiberglass.
The initial investment amounted to 40.000 Italian lire which was just enough to purchase the raw materials needed for the construction of their first pleasure boat. The mould had been borrowed from some acquaintances who did not use it anymore. The proceeds from the first sale were recapitalized in other similar boats which were sold to buyers in the area who immediately appreciated the characteristics of the “CONERO” nautical products and began to advertise them by word of mouth. In October of the same year, 1973, the CONERO company, encouraged by the success of the boats they had produced and sold, decided to participate, for the first time, in the Genoa International Boat Show, with a completely innovative model: the “CONERO 74”. Given the importance of the exhibition, the event allowed extensive publicity at national level and while the activity of CONERO continued with the sale of existing products, the technical department, encouraged by the requests of customers, designed new boats. In fact, in 1975 the CONERO went to the Genoa International Boat Show again with asmall flat-bottom 4-meter-long boat, especially suitable for coastal local fishing in the Marchesites. It was commercially denominated “TRIS 400” but it was better known among fishersas BATTANA. It obtained such an immediate and constantly growing success that in 1978 the CONERO company started the production of a 5-metre-long BATTANA boat, commercially denominated “TRIS 500”.
In the years between 1980 and 1995, in view of constant and innovative improvements, the company created new models such as DELFINO OPEN, DELFINO 450, DELFINO RED, DELFINO CORAL, DELFINO OPEN, VIKING 47 which were suitable both for pleasure and fishing. In the meantime, however, given the rapid growth in boat planning and construction, the CONERO Company felt the need to build a new, larger factory by supplying it with all the innovative equipment currently available. So, in 1983 the building of the new premises began in the industrial area of Recanatiand in September 1986, the production site, where the company’s headquarters still are, was officially inaugurated in the presence of the major local institutional authorities.
After a few years the need to qualify in a specific field was perceived and in 1992 the first 6-meter-long professional fishing boat was planned and built. It was called “DRIFTING” and was above all suitable for the lagoon fishing at the mouth of the river Po. Those were years of strong expansion for the company and important objectives and goals were reached by participating in nautical fairs and shows both in Italy and abroad or by organizing fishing competitions along the Adriatic coast. In 1995 the CONERO, being specialized in fiberglass manufacturing and having suitable equipment available, started the production of industrial molding for various companies in the area. The demand for crafts was constantly increasing and the company decided to expand the range of their fishing boats with the creation of a larger model that could be more suited to the needs of fishermen. A new BREEZE model of 7.30 meters was therefore designed, with an almost flat bottom for the lagoon fishing at the mouth of the river Po. A few years later, always driven by customer requests, they designed the “DRIFTING 660” with an almost flat bottom, the “BREEZE MARE” a 7.30-meter-long boat with a new no longer flat hull but suitable for fishing in the open sea and the “BREEZE 820” a 8.20-meter-long boat, also with a new hull suitable for off shore navigation and open sea. The “BREEZE 820”, which has become the company’s flagship, has had increasingly special requests over the years and has also been designed for use by schools, diving associations and tourist trips.
In 2012, following the industrial economic crisis, the CONERO company suffered a significant slowdown in sales and a consequent downsizing of production. All these years the company has never changed its profile and the management has always remained in the hands of the four founding partners. Only in August 2017, following the death of one of the partners and the decision of two more partners to withdraw from the work activity, the company finally passed into the hands of the manager DOMIZIO MARIO and of his two daughters: Katia and Debora who have always been employed in the management of the company: with Katia in the administration department and Debora in the commercial sector. The commercial and administrative experience of the management was able to cope with the crisis and the company started up again in full production in the second half of 2017.
